Our History
The sisters of Sigma Alpha Chi have designated November 22, 1966 as their Founder's Day, for it was on that day thirteen girls met to establish a new sisterhood at Carthage.
Our first job was to elect temporary officers. Then to pick our name, colors, flower, crest, and motto. The greatest task of Sigma Alpha Chi charter was writing the sorority constitution. In the spring of 1967, we held an open rush because we were not a charter sorority. The rush added seven members, bringing the charter number to twenty.
Even though we were not a charter sorority, we were active in organization around campus. We ended the semester with the highest sorority grade point average. Sigma Alpha Chi received its charter as a social sorority in May of 1967.
